Outer Cape Health Services is required to comply with new federal regulations that prohibit federally qualified community health centers (FQHCs) from providing medical gender-affirming care to individuals under age 19. This mandate, effective October 1, 2025, was not made by OCHS but by the federal government. Compliance is necessary to maintain our federal funding and our ability to continue delivering primary care, behavioral health, women’s health, and recovery services across the region.
We recognize that this change is deeply concerning for many in our community. OCHS remains committed to the LGBTQ+ community and is working closely with state partners to identify alternative pathways for care and to advocate for policies that restore access to gender-affirming services.
