Affordable medications are essential to a healthy community. Let’s protect access to them.
At Outer Cape Health Services, we believe that no one should have to choose between filling a prescription and paying for groceries, housing, or other basic necessities.
The federal 340B Drug Pricing Program helps community health centers like OCHS make medications more affordable and reinvest resources into patient care. It is especially important for people managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and asthma.
Now, proposed changes to the program could put that access at risk.
Beginning January 1, 2027, a federal pilot program is scheduled to replace upfront prescription drug discounts with a system requiring health centers to pay full price and wait for rebates.
For community health centers already operating with limited resources, this could create significant financial challenges and threaten the services patients depend on.
We believe affordable medications should be available when patients need them, not when a rebate arrives.
We’re joining community health centers across Massachusetts and the nation in encouraging policymakers to protect the 340B program and ensure that changes don’t come at the expense of patients.
Because access to healthcare shouldn’t depend on your income or ZIP code.
