Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS), a federally qualified community health center serving the outermost towns of Cape Cod, has announced Walk-In Care is now available only at its Provincetown Health Center. The Wellfleet Health Center will no longer provide Walk-In Care in order to focus on primary care for existing OCHS patients.
“This update reflects our ongoing commitment to making care as efficient as possible for Outer Cape residents,” said Dr. Damian Archer, CEO of OCHS. “By tailoring services to the strengths of each site and leveraging telehealth for added flexibility, we’re ensuring patients – whether they need urgent walk-in care in Provincetown or an appointment with their primary provider in Wellfleet – can access efficient care without interruption.”
This change allows OCHS to align services with each site’s clinical capacity, ensuring Provincetown can accommodate both new and returning walk-in patients, while Wellfleet focuses on providing scheduled and as available, same-day care for established patients with telehealth options available to support enhanced access.
“Provincetown has the staffing, space, and infrastructure to best manage walk-in visits, including for individuals who are not yet OCHS patients,” said Dr. Marie Constant, Chief Medical Officer at OCHS. “This adjustment also allows Wellfleet’s care teams to focus on scheduled and same-day appointments for established patients while maintaining the quality our community depends on.”
Established OCHS patients continue to have access to same-day appointments across all locations, either in person or through telehealth. Telehealth provides a convenient option for timely care, particularly when travel or scheduling may be a barrier. Patients seeking unscheduled care are encouraged to visit the Provincetown Health Center during posted Walk-In Care hours or to contact OCHS to arrange a same-day appointment or telehealth visit with their provider.
