The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has postponed a scheduled meeting of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), the independent panel that reviews medical evidence and recommends which preventive services—such as cancer screenings, blood pressure checks, and counseling—should be offered at no cost under the Affordable Care Act.
While the postponement is temporary, some public health experts have expressed concern that delays in the Task Force’s work could slow updates to national preventive care guidelines. Those recommendations play a key role in helping clinicians—and patients—make informed decisions about their health.
At Outer Cape Health Services, your preventive care will not be interrupted.
We continue to follow current evidence-based guidelines for screenings and preventive services, and we remain committed to ensuring that cost is never a barrier to receiving needed care.
If you have questions about which preventive services are right for you—such as mammograms, colorectal cancer screening, or vaccinations—please speak with your OCHS primary care provider.
Outer Cape Health Services will continue to monitor developments and advocate for policies that protect access to preventive care for all patients.
