HIV prevention remains the most effective strategy to accomplish one of the most critical tasks-- to reduce the spread of HIV disease. In the absence of a cure, prevention initiatives and risk reduction efforts provide opportunities where we can intervene and prevent the spread of resistant viruses. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 850,000 to 950,000 U.S. residents are living with HIV infection, one-quarter of whom are unaware of their infection.
Outer Cape Health provides free anonymous HIV Counseling, Testing, and Support throughout the Cape and Martha's Vineyard. These services include pre- and post-test counseling to help patients deal with the issues that may surround their decision to test and the impact of knowing their HIV status.
The Provincetown health center site is the hub of the Cape's Counseling & Testing Program. Moreover, multiple testing sites on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard make it as easy as possible for individuals to get tested, receive results and counseling, and have immediate access to our HIV specialty and primary care providers.
